It began with an idea... 'Hey, wouldn't it be great if we had a little feast on the back verandah'... and it went downhill from there!

On Saturday 25th of March 2006, Castle Saburac held their first event. It was a tournament and feast held on the castle grounds. In true SCA tradition, and harking back to our beginnings, this was the back garden of Sir Hugh and Therasa. We didn't expect what we got.

The gallery sat upon the deck, whilst the eight combatants fought a best of three round robin on the list field below. All were well entertained by the afternoon's feats of arms.

 

Entrants to the list were Eoghann MacAndreis, Gwynfor Lwyd, Rufus Addicoat, Rauf Le Brewere, Cormac Lenihan, Decimus Maximus, Conan MacAndreis and Sir Hugh The Little.

 

At the conclusion of seven rounds, all agreed that Rufus Addicoat, bearing greatsword, had held the field, carrying himself with dignity and chivalry. A small presentation was made by the members of the household, and all retired to await the feast.

As the sun went down the food came out, a culinary delight of stews, meats, vegetables, and sweetmeats. Between removes, all were entertained by poetry, story and song.

The thirty five nobles who visited the Castle revelled long into the night, enjoying the warm day and the sultry evening.
